I opposed the creation of Secure Flight because TSA is using our fear of terrorist attacks as an excuse to gathering information on us in violation of federal law. I believe that Secure Flight also restricts our Constitutional right to assembly and freedom to travel, unfairly punishes Alaskans who have no choice but to fly, turns travel agents and airlines into policemen, and increases the possibility of identity theft. I especially opposed Secure Flight because it will not keep us safe. I want security systems that work, darn it, not just provide the illusion of safety. ItТs way too late in the game to settle for security theater. Identity-based passenger screening is easily defeated by terrorists who can simply steal identities - or dispatch operatives with no criminal history who will not be flagged. This tactic has already used both on 911 and during the recent London bombings.
